"RENNINGTON, a township and chapelry in the parish of Embleton, S. division
of Bamburgh ward, county Northumberland, 3¼ miles N.E. of Alnwick, its
post town. The village, which is of small extent, is wholly agricultural.
The soil is of a clayey and sandy nature, with a subsoil of clay. The
living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Durham, value £115, in the
patronage of the Vicar of Embleton. The church, dedicated to All Saints,
has a square tower containing one bell. The register dates from 1768. The
church is of recent erection. There is a National school for both sexes, in
which a Sunday-school is held. The Duke of Northumberland is lord of the
manor."
